a A “Qualified Referral” is a referral made by the Seller of a new seller who registers for the Sale and who actually drops-off to the Big Red Wagon items that pass quality control (minimum of 50 items, or items having an objective value of at least $100).  Only one Seller may receive credit for a Qualified Referral.

b Volunteer shifts are either “Premium” (5 hours) or “Standard” (3 hours).  The Seller will be required to sign a Volunteer Agreement Release and Waiver for each volunteer shift, and as set forth in that agreement, the Seller will not receive enhanced proceeds and benefits for a shift that is not actually worked, and in addition, the Big Red Wagon will deduct a Penalty Fee from a Seller's final proceeds in the amount of $10.00 for each Standard Shift missed and $25.00 for each Premium Shift missed (as indicated on the volunteer on-line volunteer sign up).

Seller will be compensated for additional Qualified Referrals with Wagon Bucks ($5 in Wagon Bucks for each additional Qualified Referral).

Seller Registration Fee

This spring you will be required to pay a $10 nonrefundable registration fee when registering to become a seller.  The seller fee will now be $15.00 rather than $25, so in the end, the amount will be the same as it was last year.

Here is the reason for the change...

Over the past several sales, we have had numerous people register to be a seller, schedule all their volunteer shifts (many times the most popular shifts to sellers and most crucial shifts for us) and their drop off appointment.  In the end, they never entered any inventory or contact us that they will not be selling.  It has created a very unfortunate situation for our sellers and for us trying to manage the sale.

As sellers, you are not able to register for these shifts.  We do not know until after the item entry deadline that these volunteer shifts and drop off appointments will be open; therefore, making it impossible to offer these times to you.

As sale owners, we depend greatly on our volunteers.  There is a great deal of planning that goes into preparing for the sale.  When this happens it leaves us in a bind.  We now have huge gaps in our schedule both with volunteer shifts and drop off appointments.  We depend on each and every volunteer to show up for their shift to efficiently run the sale.

Our hope is that by requiring the upfront nonrefundable registration fee, this will greatly reduce the problem.

No Sharing Seller Numbers

You may not share seller numbers.  Over the past few years, we have seen a tremendous increase in sellers sharing seller numbers.  While this may not seem like a big deal, it has actually had a huge impact on the sale and the amount of volunteer hours worked.  We have consistently been short on volunteer shifts over the past several sales.

Here is an example of how this affects our sales:

If three people share one seller number and each work 1 volunteer shifts (for a total of 3) to earn 75%, they have worked a total of 11 hours.  Compare this to 3 sellers, each with their own number, working 11 hours to earn 75%.  They have worked a total of 33 hours.  We are losing 22 hours of volunteer time.  We work extremely hard to put on a great quality sale for our sellers and shoppers.  We really need everyone to work their fair share throughout the sale to make this possible.

We have thought of several ideas to correct this problem but, after much discussion among all of the sale owners,  we felt many of you may not realize the impact this has on the sales.  Therefore, we wanted to take an opportunity to explain the problem we are having and why we are no longer accepting sharing seller numbers.  Thanks so much for your understanding and cooperation.
